Surrendering for Love | Ajay Pandey

The mystical words surrender carries a huge emotional charge. We only understand that surrender as an act of stopping resistance and we forget about that it also means to submit ourselves to their authority. That means we rely totally on their decisions. Which has talked a lot if we say about divinity or spirituality?  Surrender in Sanskrit is “saranam” which also means to under shelter. Being attached to Gaudiya tradition (the disciplic line descending from Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu) which talks about Saranagati (“The Goal of Surrender”). That every devotee must surrender themselves to Lord Krishna. So I  believe in Krishna consciousness which not only allows to love but consists of only love. The pure way of devotion teaches us to love each and every entity because lord Krishna is in every entity.

True Love

People today have mistaken badly lust with love. According to Sri Caitanya- caritamrita “ lust and love are different in their own ways such as Brass and Gold. The desire to gratify one’s own senses is kama [lust], but the desire to please the senses of Lord Krishna is prema [love].”

Real love happens only in spiritual paths which is regarded as highest standard in all kind of relationships like parental, friendship, or any else. True love is state of asakta-manah — “mind attached” which means love is to think about the betterment of the lover, not own benefits. I want to meet him/her, just because I am missing him/her and will make me happy is never the state of true love unless he/she will have no difficulty in it and will make happier. So, Love is always selfless. True love cannot be practiced until one is bounded by lust, greed, envy, anger, or any kind of personal ambition.

Surrender in/for love
सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज |
अहं त्वां सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुच: || 66||

sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śharaṇaṁ vraja

ahaṁ tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣhayiṣhyāmi mā śhuchaḥ

This verse is from Srimad Bhagwat Gita in which Shree Krishna says to surrender to him and him only by forgetting all kind of Dharma he will take you to moksha. Which as per I understand dharma is all about our responsibilities, duties, obligations, and norms. These are the things which hold us from being surrendered. One just needs to forget all things and surrender other will be looked by him.
